Call duck Genetics

So I’ve been getting really good at breeding, hatching and raising from my first starter flock that I got three years ago. I love these little ducks, but now I’ve got more colors and am trying to figure out colors and patterns I can breed to get new colors but not get muddy birds.
I have black magpie, black bibbed, a chocolate bibbed hen (I’m looking to breed to get new colors from her if possible) Snowy, Blue Fawn, Pastel, White and Grays. I know Blue Fawns, Pastel, Grays, and Snowys, will get me Blues Fawn, Pastels, Snowy and Grays back.
Now I’m looking to see if I can get other colors from the new ones I’ve got, my Chocolate hen especially.
If anyone has any great Call Duck books suggestions they can give me that’d be great, and any tips of the trade anyone has would be great too. I’m in Texas and it has been very hard for me to even find call ducks.

Duck colors are so fun to play with, I got my first chocolate magpies a few years ago using black and blue magpies and a chocolate ancona drake. One thing I can tell you is that any female ducks you hatch will carry two color genes from their father and one one from their mother, while drakes will carry two from the mother and one from the father (example, black magpie duck x chocolate ancona drake will result in brown females and black drakes mostly). One other thing I've learned is large patches of color are dominant over small splotches, so if you cross say something like an ancona with something with large dark patches on it, you'll get almost all large dark patches. I'm sorry but I don't know a whole lot about dominant colors, black and chocolate seemed to be pretty equal. If you want a great resource about duck color genetics, there is a chapter about it in "Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks" by Dave Holderread. Hopefully this is helpful to you!
