Call duck left alone

Hi, I sadly just had one of my call ducks pass away last night due to unknown reasons. I am left with only one and since ducks need to live together, I must get another. Since I can’t find any adult/baby call ducks in my area I would plan on ordering some hatching eggs. But my question is what should I do with the single duck until I hatched the eggs?

Where are you located? Can you get on the forum that is for your state and put out a "call" for help? Maybe there is someone nearby that has ducks to sell. Can you spend extra time with your solo duck in the meantime?

From what I’ve heard, a larger breed of duck could hurt a smaller breed like a call duck.

A larger breeds drake yes, but if you order females you should be fine.

yes I will try to spend as much time with my duck until a can find another.

Not females, esp if the one grows up with the other. You could always opt for a smaller breed female, such as a runner.

Definitely go for another female, if that's what you already have. Runner females are really small. Welsh harlequins are also small and calm birds.
