Call duck runt

i had a runt this hatch, too. Not really micro-sized, but much smaller in comparison to her hatchmates. She has been picked on mercilessly by my dominant male duck (pulled all her feathers out of her head trying to breed with her) so i finally had to move her into her own private duck condo :). She hates the separation, but her feathers are finally starting to grow back. So my advice is to just watch her/him and see how the other ducks treat her/him.

Oh, when she was with them she was the bully and peck the largest ducks to get them out of the way for food. It was really funny because she is the size of their heads. It's just when they got startled or when I dropped in their greens that she would get run over and knocked around, so I moved her with the baby ducklings and she's never picked on them.

I just had the same thing i order 9 ducks and one just would not grow at 5 weeks old she still was the size of a 2 day old duckling. I am proud to say that she did start growing. I had to separate her with one other to give company. I only did this because they would run her over. But she was eating and drinking like the rest. I did go to the feed store and got electrolights and a special growing feed to mix woth her other feed she is still smaller than the rest but they are all back to together now and could be happier. It is hars to wait but it will get there

At least she gets to be the cute duckling longer. They grow so fast. :) My pekin is larger than the khaki so I carry the khaki to get the pekin to follow to her pen. I miss the duckling phase.
