Our family just adopted 3 call ducklings (in addition to 4 chicks) and will be working on building their respective coops over the next 2-3 weeks.
Due to the possibility of moving this summer we are making the coops to be easy for us to transport until we finalize our plans. For the ducks, how deep should their watering hole be? Like 2” or deeper? Both the ducks and chicks will be free range when I’m home but will be inside their own coops/runs at night or if no one is home...but I want to make sure the ducks water is somewhere the chickens can’t get to, in addition to being deep enough for them bathe appropriately in :) thanks in advance for helping this newbie family out!!

A kiddy pool would work once the chicks are around a month old they will know better than get in the pool .
We have a kiddie pool that will be available to them I just worry about about chickens during free range periods...I’m terrified one of the kids or myself would find one of our chickens in the pool too. My chicks are a week old but I have a couple that are pretty sassy already. We’re raising as pets totally so I want to be cautious :)

For my Call Ducklings I use these livestock bowls for swimming and then kiddie pools with brick steps to get out and in...Or wood steps too..

We have a small livestock bowl it’s about 2-3” in height that I have in their indoor box that they spend a lot of time in. :) it’s getting warmer (80-90 degrees) during the days here so I’m hoping to start bringing them out in their boxes during the day more and more — we’ve been letting the chicks and ducklings socialize a few times a day— the ducks can be jerks lol.

My Ducks and Chickens live separately because my Calls hate the Chickens...

This is about half of their brooder box they spend most of their time in the little livestock bowl. :)
