We hatched 3 call ducks 3weeks ago and have them in a large cage to protect them from the older ducks as they have killed our duckings in the past. When cleaning out their cage I noticed the one ducking has a sore on it's back. The other duckings dont peck it so I'm not sure what its from.

Is this something I should worry about or will it heal up on its own?

Would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

As you know, Ducklings are clumsy..It possibly fell on its back....Any wire in the cage?

I would not worry.....As long as it is not infected, which in the photo it looks fine....Just let him bath as usual and it will heal up quickly......

Cute little Duckies!!!!!

Cheers!

Is the duckling missing a bit of fluff or is it just because that part of fluff was wet in photo? I can't actually see a wound. Ducks are actually a hardy species, much more so chickens in our experience. As long as you don't see an open or bleeding wound and it's siblings aren't bothering it, I would suggest just keeping an eye on it.

Good luck and enjoy your ducks.
