CALL DUCKS ARE HATCHING!!!

Sounds good. I think if you keep him still and let him absorb the yolk, he will get stronger. Hatchlings rest a bit after they break out of their egg normally, so being assisted and still absorbing, he will probably rest more. Peeping and trying to move is a good sign! Nice and warm too!!! Bottom shell still attached or off?
Attached, but barely. The membrane is just barely hanging on but I don't want to risk moving him. He reacts to the sound of my voice. Oh, I don't wanna lose him, I hope he somehow pulls through...

UPDATE: Egg #2 is gone. Chipped off the top of the shell and I found a large yolk and no head in sight. He was turned the wrong way. :( The third egg is moving through the air cell when I candle, I'm gonna leave it alone and see what happens.

He wasn't ready if he needed to absorb the yolk still...what day are these babies on? High humidity can interfere with absorbing the yolk so was yours doing ok...staying steady?

Nearing the end of day 25. And it wasn't just that the yolk wasn't absorbed, it was at the top right next to the air cell! The poor thing was totally turned the wrong way 'round. He never had a chance. :/ Hoping Egg #3 isn't a similar story.

If you can, you should post up a picture. There are a lot of people on BYC that may be able to give an opinion on what happened during your hatch that caused it.

I already tossed it - I couldn't bear to eggtopsy the poor little thing, especially when he was alive and wiggling just six hours ago.

I probably should have taken a photo, but I guess that's hindsight. Also, Wobbles keeps trying to stand up - I've got him held against my chest right now with a damp towel and a heat pack and he's calmed down. Typing one-handed is tricky :p And even after he's been through all this trauma, he still peeps back at me when I coo at him!

That is a good sign for Wobbles!!! Peeping and moving(even though you need him to stay calm) means he is alert and gaining strength

He won't open his eyes, though. In the 8 hours or so he's been out of the egg he's opened them maybe 4 times? Is that normal?
