Call Ducks- Noise level?

For those of you that raise Calls, I am wondering just how noisy they are really? I have always heard they are loud, but just *how* loud? Is there some way to quantify how loud we are talking?

Are they just a little louder than other ducks? twice as loud? more than twice as loud? I am just curious because I would really like to add some to my flock. I have had all of the other bantam breeds including several pairs of Mini Appleyards (bred from White Calls) and they didn't seem *horribly* loud to me, but maybe pure Calls are?

Any thoughts on the volume? TIA

I've been wondering the same thing (not to hijack your thread LOL). I have the regular size silver Appleyards and they are normally quiet but when they do quack, it is pretty loud. Do the call ducks quack all the time? Maybe it's not so much how loud, but how often they do it? I really want some and fair season is coming up

My only experience with them was when I went to the recent swap, but they were by far the loudest birds there. May have just been because they were caged up and stressed, but it was non stop loud quacking. I would love to have some, but hearing them at the swap made me realize that it was not possible with neighbors nearby.

An acquaintance of mine breeds call ducks and he says his are not noisy at all. I commented that they were very loud at the fair but he said keep in mind that they are out of their surroundings and in a cage around alot of other birds. That makes sense to me but I'd really like to hear from others who own them. I already offend the neighbors enough.

I was just saying to the wife, how are ducks never make noise anymore. Ever since our drake was killed 2 months ago. I sat with them, and did that whistle call to them for about 5 minutes. Then they started acting ducky! Flapping there wings & quackin a bit. They've always been quiet tho. My theory is they think there chickens.

my call ducks are VERY loud. They pierce my ears when they are right next to me! LOL!!! I love them, they are so cute, but YES they are loud!

Keep in mind I only have 2 calls that are only 4 months old and I don't have too much experience with other ducks....but from what I've seen with mine they certainlyl CAN be loud...quite loud....but generally only are if they're upset by something. 99% of the time they are completely silent.
