I figured since I have my order of layers coming in soon I might as well hatch out some chickies myself. I'm actually surprised none of my birds have gone broody yet, Especially my turkeys. But I probably wouldn't let anyone hatch out anything this time of year
It's only -10c right now but next week is suppose to be +8 and up :woot Really can't wait for spring

That's a nice set-up~ Is bonnie a partridge silkie?
Yes. She is a Partridge Silkie.

I hope no one thinks I'm mean because I chose to stop the other 4 eggs from hatching. I definitely don't need Chicks in my house and they were not very far in incubation either.
I've had to do that a couple of times with my broodies, I don't judge you at all. I don't like staggering any hatches and especially with broodies.. :th

I know...Thanks because I sort of felt bad but I know it was the right decision for me..

It would of been too stressful for me to do it. Wasn't that many eggs too so you could of ended up with only half of them hatching witch would require more care for them.. Definitely not at this time of the year. You do what you think is right, not what other people think :frow
My Ducks are laying but I'm not hatching anything till spring this year. :woot
None of my calls are laying and they're definitely old enough to start. Really want them to start laying soon, Maybe once it gets warmer.. Gotta separate everyone soon, They're still all together in the barn instead of their pens. Maybe this weekend when the weather warms up a bit might encourage a few to start laying?

Yep, it was too warm here so my Ducks began laying and now we are into the deep freeze for the next week. I definitely won't hatch Ducks till spring.
How many Calls are you keeping for breeding?

My limit's 6 per color. I've got gray, black, white, snowy, pastel, and penciled calls, For they grays i'm at my limit, 5 hens and 1 drake, Whites i've got 2 pairs, black 3 hens and 1 drake, pastel 2 hens and 1 drake, penciled 2 hens and 1 drake, and snowy i've got 3 hens and 1 drake. So all together I have 24 calls now, Might add some butterscotch or Ancona(Haven't made up my mind) calls later in the future but i'm happy with what I have right now :)
This Silkie is a really sweet Pullet..She is young so I hope she is a good Momma...:fl
I'm sure she'll do great, Silkies are awesome brooders and mamas~
