Yeah I use pdz in the summer with some pine shavings on top. I can't wait to get back to that everything stays so much cleaner and smells better.
I finally culled my one leghorn hen thiis week. She was just getting too nasty.
All the chickens and ducks were out when I did it and I was worried they would be scared or angry at me, but about 30 min later a hawk started circling and everyone ran and squeezed around my legs like I was a momma hen, lol.
This was the first hen I culled. It was neat seeing all the yolks that were developing inside.

I only use pine shavings..I have sand down in all my Runs so that doesn't stink because I keep turning it over..

I thought about doing sand in my run this year to help with the stink.

Definitely helps here. I turn it with my hand tiller/? Thing and it dries quickly..

I want to check on my Hen and Chicks but I'm not picking her up when it's this cold even with the heat lamp on her..

I hope my Bunny Boy is okay this morning in this frigid cold weather....I hope she was smart enough to go up to her house that's full of straw instead of just using her straw house she built under the ramp.....

Holy smokes I went and lifted Bonnie and I have 4 Chicks so far.....I even got a Black one....I'm so excited...
