That’s a really nice extension. I like how you can lift up that door. I have to go through the lumber I have in the garage and see how much I need to buy. My dad wants to make the run out of 2x4s cut in half lengthwise to make the panels lighter. But I don’t know if they will be able to support the roosts that I will be putting in the run. The only good thing that came out of this past Nor Eastern was that I got a lot of really good sized branches from some downed tree limbs. :wee
They get up there and roost on that door. I know because I have found poop up there! So, I make sure the rope is secure every morning to support their weight.

So sorry I missed this earlier!
What day are we on now? I don't see any that look totally bad. They look about normal for shipped eggs, I think.

Here's my suggestion - on saddles... since you've traced the air cells already, take a different marker and trace just the actual "round" part of the air cell. A dotted or dashed line maybe. The dips are just places where the membrane has just slightly pulled away from inside the shell. Its part of the air cell, but not the main area. Candling can be deceiving on saddles. They look huge, when really they might be just barely not attached. Focusing on the main circle can help you see if the saddle is growing, staying the same, moving, or reattaching.

I need a little encouragement-my sister’s husband passed away unexpectedly yesterday and we will be leaving for several days for the service. I have my first set of duckies due to hatch on Monday. I’ve a staggered hatch in the incubator and reliable but ignorant help available. If I pull out my turner on Thursday, and my help turns all but the “due” eggs, what are the chances that they’ll come out okay? (On top of a 5 hour power outage last night).

Hubby already vetoed bringing the incubator in the van (it has a dc outlet!)

Sorry for your loss.
At what stages are the other eggs? You plan to hatch them all in the same incubator? What do you plan to do about humidity?

Set #2 is 5 days after and Set #3 is 5 days after that. My humidity has been about 55% the whole time and per advice from someone that frequently does staggered hatches and doesn’t do lock down, just keep on with the current temp of 99 and 55ish% humidity and the rest will come through okay. Everyone looks really good and active when I candle, so like Chickens Really said, I just have to hope for the best.

The service should be Friday and we will hopefully be home Sunday so I’m hoping to be here when they start to hatch.

I think that picture was from day 15. It is Day 17 now. Should I candle tonight and trace or should I wait?
