Call Ducks or Bantams...Crazy Animals Around the Farm

Well around lunch time I look out and all 3 of my neighbor's dogs are here near the chicken run. It's my inlaws dogs. So, I knew that meant that they weren't home - their dogs stay home if they are.
I opened the back door and yelled at them to go home. They headed that way. I also looked out and two huge birds were circling something in the field. Probably turkey buzzards, but I couldn't see them well enough. They were close though.
As I go to sit down (researching my options to house my birds), I hear one of the chickens (I think it was JellyBean). She was cackling loudly and sounding like a goose. I opened the back door and you could really hear her. I've never heard the chickens from the house since we got them. So, I go out to check and she's just clucking from the roost.
I think she was yelling for the dogs to go home too! :D
Then when she heard me coming and was like "There's that human that takes care of us .... all is well now."
Before we put up the cattle panel, the dogs came down and one of them caused a ruckus - which caused me to fortify more. So, yeah she was alerting me that they were in danger. :love

My muscovy live with my chickens. There is no inter-species mating. There is occasional goosing between the species, but they tolerate each other. My shed is large, so I don't know if a smaller space will alter behaviors.
A lot of the ducks in the you tube vids were muscovy. So, then I truly became concerned.

I haven't seen it. I don't brood the species together as that can confuse them, and I make sure the male to female ratio is correct. A male duck without a mate will become frustrated and probably would try to mate anything it could, most young male animals are driven by hormones, and the urge to mate. If you keep them correctly than it shouldn't be a problem.

I have occasionally seen young roosters mating each other when penned away from hens. If you end up with males than you will need to keep them separately. I think what you saw were irresponsible owners, or ignorant ones, both are rampant on Utube.

They have to get through cattle panel, welded wire, and hardware cloth now. They aren't that motvated. Before, I didnt have the cp and welded wire run. I'm thinking of adding an electric fence to it too. Muhahaha....;)
Dogs learn quickly when zapped by an electric fence, and there's a secret satisfaction to hearing the yipping as they run like heck.

Ducklings just don't want to stay still! I got a few pics for my ducklings, I got a guy that wants 5 so he'll be coming over sometime tomorrow to get them. that'l leave me with 21 ducklings, 3 mixes, 6 Rouens, and 12 khaki campbells. I might have 2 other people interested in the khakis as well. So I took their pictures before they went off.
