They are probably terrified and in shock. We're they with momma duck up until you took them? It's pretty normal for them to be frightened especially if the were hatched by a hen.

It's not really a lot of work, just a lot of looking, and changing water and bedding. They will grow fast. When it warms where you are they can go out in the sunshine in a smaller fence. I put a 5 gallon bucket on it's side and it will heat up in the sun like a brooder.

These are chicks, but I would brood ducklings the same.

They were with their mom until yesterday. They are almost a week old (tomorrow I think).
How warm is warm enough to be outside? I suppose they could do that during the day and back inside at night?

I'm not sure how warm you are yet. I generally start taking mine outside when temperatures are 70-80, and it's sunny and not too breezy.

The last time I let my muscovy hatch they left the kids in the shed after they were 3 weeks while they went out to forage. I don't think they brooded them after 4 weeks. I like to brood a bit on lower side as opposed to warmer, starting closer to 85 the first week and dropping weekly by 5 degrees or so.

When @chickens really comes around she can fill you in more as she's been brooding ducks way more than me.

From the pics I saw, the mom had her babes outside these last few days and today the high is only 40 something. But, I won't do that yet. They are skeered right now anyway. Lol

They are probably pretty good at running too. Mine were always great at climbing too. A muscovy duckling can easily climb out of a 2-3 foot fence if determined to do so.

They were brought to me in a carrying crate. There were only the 3 females. I caught them pretty easily. But, the males ping ponged around. This was the one that jumped into my hand. One almost ping ponged right out the car door into the parking lot as I was looking at them!
