LOL, yes that would likely be a reasonable comparison. They don't eat loads and mess to clean up is smaller. Now water wise? they are massive water hogs, they adore water... mine have a 40GAL trough.. they also mate in water too.

So despite the size, they do make a muddy mess, they have managed to mud up their entire 10X10 dog run lol but they are happy, so i don't worry too much.

Lol i dont mind the mud mess, and i have a pond i made about two times the size of a bath tub that my larger ducks don't seem to use anymore, so the calls would get it all to them selves

And are the males as quiet as larger drakes or slightly louder?

Drakes are very quiet, my Clyde can barely muster more than a garbled sound. Still looking for my video! just been out at the barns, well practically all day lol

Wow thats pretty loud! I think i am just going to stick with males. But do you know of a farm that sells calls that are sexed? I know metzer farms doesnt sell calls and efowl only sells straight run. Those are the only two farms i an familiar with

i was think of getting call duck right now i only own 3 breeds but befor this year is over i will own 5 or 6 breeds of duck i own right now Muscovy and mallards now my mallard hen can get really loud some times when they get happy or running from a male duck i know the mallard males wont let any other boy duck bred there females i also own runners my 2 year with the Muscovy and mallard but this is also there first year breeding and laying i had to buy 2 sets of mallard one year so i had to get the 2nd set super late in the breeding season my dog had a snack on the first ones i was rlly mad at her poor little ducklings

Nope, i do not being bantams and rather delicate for the first day or so makes that a more difficult task, most prefer not to.(sex them) makes it more difficult, mind you most experienced breeders seem to be able to nail it by stature, my first pair i got dead on, said i wanted a pair and that is what they were.

I have also been looking for a female call, but they are hard to find. We have a call drake, a grey crested drake, a peking duck and two cayuga cross ducks. They all get along quite well.
