Welll we have a neighbor on the otherside of our tree line that has chickens and roosters.. We hear their rooster crow EVERY Morning

I love it... We have 30 Chicks and 3 young roosters... that are all roughly 3 wks.. Early.... early this morning (roughly 5am) I heard ONE chick or rooster (not sure which) making an aweful lot of noise... this is usually the same time of day we start to hear the neighbors rooster... is it too early for my roosters to start trying to crow? Or could this be first attempts?

I think they can start that young, I can't remember exactly, I know when I hear it my reaction is Oh [email protected] is usually this pathetic little squeaky noise....I end up with lots of boys so Im never thrilled to hear it

Sounds like you need more insulation in your coop!

Here in Illinois, I've insulated the coop so much (in preparation for cold winters), that with the windows closed, I cannot hear a thing. Not a peep! Well, ok, a peep if I go stand under the vents!

Enjoy the beautiful noise!

lol.. Unfortunately, they are not yet in their coop.. I wish they were because this "chicken dust" is driving me Nuts!

Everything I have read says they need to be kept warm for the first 6 wks or until they are fully feathered..

Neither of which has occured yet. Most have feathers but not fully feathered.. I think what we are going to do is finish out the coop this week and move them out there after we see the forcast next week.. Night time temps have been pretty good here so I can set up the heat lamp as an extra precaution...

I LOVE
