She was our only yellow chick in a little mixed flock. My oldest daughter named her. :) I was worried for a minute that we were cursing ourselves but she turned out to be a sweetie!

That's awesome! I'm very glad she turned out to be like my BO's! :)

Ok, omg. My does the same thing, making little threatening clucks the whole time.
I have a buff Orpington, though I wouldn’t call myself a BO lover. My PIG, aka my buff Orpington, is a JERK, cough cough. She jumped into the nesting box while my EE was trying to lay an egg, and started to kick all the hay out from under her. JERK.

Mine...she’s a devil. I would never say I hated a chicken, but she...she’s on the line. Sometimes. I mean, I love her, but she is crazy mean. Pecked my eyeball today.
Sure you have a BO?
Yup. She’s full blood, from a breeder. (Though, she isn’t English.)

Sure does look like a BO. 🧐 *zooms in* Yeah, that's a Buff Orp. Well, I guess you also have a rare one. Did you raise her from a chick?

Not quite. I got her at six weeks old. No, seven. Yup. She was a big honking menace. The first thing she did was flog my tiny runted Dominique on the head then grab a beakful of feathers off of her neck.
Unprovoked.
She has the most beautiful voice though. Hence, her name is Melody.

She is very royal top of the pecking order and reinforces it whenever she can. But hey, at least she flogs the dog when he gets too cocky.
I love her to bits, but that girl...she be mean.

Oh, that explains some stuff. I got my chicks when they were two days old. I handled them and played with them every single day multiple times. Maybe it's because you got her when she was seven weeks old.

P.S. - I have a Golden Laced Wyandotte named Melody!

Yeah, I don’t quite know her background. So I can’t entirely judge.
Ps. Sorry, I don’t mean to rain on your thread. I still love Orps. Just...not mine. (I do love her. Not her personality, though.)
That’s cool! It’s a good name for a chicken.
