Calling all BUNNY keepers! Treat question?!

I just buy grass hay from the feed store by the bail. It's cheaper than petstore hay and I use it in the chicken coop as well. Plus, the chickens like to eat on it a bit in the wintertime too. They scratch in it for corn.

Mine goes absolutely NUTS for raisins. You can't feed a ton of these, of course. To make the fun last longer, I'll cut a raisin up into smaller pieces, but then you REALLY have to watch out for your fingers! Banana is also a big fav.

Anytime we feed or give a treat, we sing this made-up song that has the same tune and the words are "Bunny-bun-bun" over and over again. So now, we can just sing that and said rabbit runs right over.

Rabbits have similar digestive systems to horses.....therefore most things horses can eat, rabbits can eat.

I like to feed those horse "biscuits" to my bunnies. The ones that are apple/oat/etc. I buy them from tractor supply, blue/purple bag. Bunnies love them! they kind of look like dog treats....and are very hard, so give them something good to chew on.

just be c areful of sugar. most horse treats have lots of molasses in them as well. Being so much smaller, bunnies are more easily over-loaded with sweets. But, they do love molasses just as much!

Oh yeah ours is spoiled too. Maybe they should be penpals. They could write each other comics about how much they are loved, and how!

I always wonder if the petstore hay is too old to be of use, nutritionally? He has it, but he also eats TONS of yard growth. Indoors he has a stash of hay in his "room"., where his regular Purina Rabbit pellets and water are.

if it's greenish, it's still good is the rule, i'm pretty sure. anyway i think it's more to give them something to graze on so thier kidneys don't shut down. if your bunny's on grass all day he's probably all right.
