calling all goat owners!

Love my pygmies and love my goat's milk...

I have rather small hands and the teats on a pygmy are small and perfect for me to milk...

I only milk once a day and they seem to do fine... a bit lazy about milking twice a day as I already get up at 5:30 to go to work...

I get about 16oz at a milking from a single goat.... great for making soap....

No real special equipment... I milk into plastic zip lock bags which are in a very large mug and then strain it with a drain strainer lined with cheese cloth.. and if the kids don't see it I can freeze it for soap or save it up for cheese.... I have a piece of plywood on top of milk crates and I sit on a milk crate to milk the goats... I put a bowl of grain down and they let me milk away....

If you're looking at getting a pygmy for milk, you might as well go for a nigerian dwarf since they are they same size and they are a dairy breed so they would produce more than a pygmy but not more than a full sized dairy goat. Nigerians produce about 1 to 2 quarts per day on average. I think pygmy's make like a cup a day. So it may not be worth it.
