You guys were SO helpful to me when I joined last year and knew SOOO little! I was extremely grateful to all those who gave me good advice and took the time to make sure I understood. I have made a "commitment to myself" to give back by helping those who I can help by answering their questions.

I wanted to encourage all of you who have learned here to reach out to the new members and answer their questions - there are many new members on the "raising baby chicks" thread, and they could benefit from the experience of those who have been there, done that. I see many threads that have 0 replies, and I know many of the same questions come up frequently, but they are new questions to the "asker". And there is SO much knowledge many of you have to share.

Anyway, I just wanted to put this out there and encourage everyone to answer a question or concern for the new peeps!

Have a great weekend, everyone!!!

I, for one, am doing my best Kelly.
I wanted to tell you that I appreciate and enjoy your posts.

Yeahhhhh!!!! I'm so glad you guys agree! I specifically look for threads that have zero replies (or a low number of replies). Thanks! I don't feel like such a "nerd"!

I would try to help what I can and sometimes I do not have an answer to it. Alot of the first time questions has been repeated a zillion times and sometimes they do not bother to use the search machine to help them get where the information they can search for.

Lets do our best in helping the newbies!

That's a good point. Sometimes new members don't know how to use the site. We can give them a gently reminder where they might find the answer. My first post was a desperate chick question and I posted it in the New Members introductions. Someone guided me to the right category. I was very grateful and a little embarrassed.

A lot of people - myself included - were/are a little overwhelmed by a message board. I had never belonged to one & wasn't familiar with how it worked.

My background is in (music) education - and I love to teach...and I'm use to repeating myself

I think however we help - whether guiding them to a thread with the info they need, or just answering it again - they will appeciate that someone helped them. That's how I felt, anyway - grateful for the help.

I would just to let everyone know that Kelly is such a nice person. I was going to be getting a Blue Silkie hen from floridamama from a swap awhile ago and I found out that I couldn't go because of baseball and Kelly picked her up for me and we got to pick her up the next day. Now she is happily free ranging with our other chickens right now. You are the best Kelly.
