I really need to win this prize. This is my third hatch & I've only hatched eggs from my flock. How do yall candle brown eggs.I always try but have yet to see anything. So far I haven't had an egg blow up but wondering how common it is for this to happen. Also, if it does happen are all the eggs bad are can you salvage them. I would hate to loose 48 eggs.

I have brown eggs and made my own candler. I use an executive style lamp (it swivels and locks in different positions) and I fit an ice cream plastic carton over it with a hole cut in the top that sits directly over the light. It's great for seeing veins and movement up to about day 13/14. After that I do the sniff test! I figure if they are good 2/3rds of the way thru incubation, any late deaths won't blow up in the last week.

Heres the first 6 chicks out of 17 eggs so far.....
