Calling all New Brinsea Owners - PRIZES - March Hatch-a-long

I did a staggered hatch and the first one ended up hatching under a broody because we went out of town. But the next three have been in the bator and are due tomorrow! No pips yet, but I heard one peeping!!!

One thing I would like to caution all Brinsea owners about. I submerged the yellow bottom of my Brinsea to clean it really well after my last hatch. Do not do this. Water does get into the bottom and there is foam in there for insulation. The leaflet that comes with the incubator tells you not to do it but I did not read that part of the leaflet. You can take the bottom apart and take out the foam before submerging. It is really easy to do, just four screws.

It is simple to take apart and check. If you don't have eggs in it right now I would take it apart to check it, if you do have eggs in it right now, just wait I am sure it is fine.

its dry. I think you would need to really dunk it good to get it wet. The water would have to come through the seam where the two pieces of plastic meet. Thanks for sharing though as I am now more aware.

I'm getting eggscited. I now have three pips & one is zipping. Yeee Haw. Come on iddy's. I got everything ready in the brooder. I think I'll wait longer this time before I take them out of the bator.
