Calling all Polish People

I posted pictures before, but didnt ask about sex, but I have two frizzled polish about 3 months old or so. 1 I am 100% sure is a hen, the other im iffy about. Some of the feathers on head are round, mainly towards back of head, others in the front are a little bit pointed, has started to get a tiny tiny bit of red where waddles would be, but the person that sold them assures they are both hens. What is you experience on when polish get their waddles, and when their crests look like boys ones?

I Breed Crested breeds(Crevecoeurs) and have dabbled in and out of Polish, and from what I can see, it looks like a pullet and a cockerel. It's difficult to tell, especially with frizzles, just from pictures. His/Her demeanor will really tell you what sex they are.

By demenor what do you mean? How will he vary from her? I was looking at pictures online of some polish and some of the hens seem to get waddles too? Wouldnt it see like he would have more prenounced waddles at over 3mo.?

k625 I have the very same thing going on with one of my polish...we call her Lola but the front crest feathers are pointed and the back are rounded, she or he also is getting red as well and is much taller than the other polish I bought. Plus Lola is the one that puts everyone to bed and is the last to get the treats so the ladies can precede him/her. I took pics and need to post them as well because I am in the same predicament as you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and me that we both have tomboy girls.

Red, I am def. hoping for a hen, so the fingers will be crossed for the both of us. I will try to get some pictuers tomorrow, and maybe someone can help out out. Although, unlike yours mine are both same in size, and heigt, but one does not eat the treats given, where the other does. But I got them at just around 3mo, a little older now, but before me never had treats.

Slo- These along with my silkies are my first chickens. Ive had the silkies since they were a week old, and have had the polish since they were 3mo old. They are bantams polish frizzle so I dont know if that changes anything? The color of the two are buff laced, they look identical in color. I will look at the hackle feathers..but what should I be looking for? Just difference? Thanks so much for all of your help!

I have also found this to be true(not as well defined) in frizzles as well. You should be able to tell in about a month for sure if it's a boy or a girl. The bantams are basically fully developed at about 4 months of age. The reproductive organs are the only changes that occur after that. So keep an eye on it, and see what happens. If it's not crowing, the hackles are just as rounded and balanced as your females, and it has a similar demeanor, it's probably a hen. They are beautiful birds!

I can't seem to link to my page here, but click below and check the WC Polish page. It isn't finished yet but I have a few pictures on showing how the cere on the males will get very red earlier than the hens.

There is a distinct difference in the coloring between the males and females pretty early.

Slo- Thanks so much. I was looking at "it" again tonight. Def. has more red in the face than the other one, but who knows. It is more shy than the other one too, but I guess its just a waiting game. I really appreciate all of your input, and kindness!

Vet- Thanks so much for the info. Mine does not seem to have a thing like that on his head, but its just got slight red in some places, but so does the pullett, but just not as red...if that makes sense. Your web page looks very nice, I will keep checking it since its under construction.
