That's Awesome! You must have a lot of great bird knowledge. I'm still learning all the breeds sure you all have some pretty birds and good recipes

What birds do you have Starr? I can see from your avatar you have ducks, right? Any others?

I used to have new jersey gaints, and rode island reds but downsized to just the ducks. Easier for me to keep up with, in this really cold temps. My chicken are on my friends farm now I have just the roune,& girl blue swede after fox got my Indian runner. Looking forward to my flock getting up to about 12-15 birds. I've been looking for cold weather hardy breeds that are unusual. I had ducks when I was a kid and just got back into having birds 2 years ago.

We just butchered some our Mascovie ducks! We are eating duck fingers we breaded then cooked in our waffle iron! Wow good and it is a dark meat! Mascovies are hardy, quiet and lots to their breast meat! And very self sufficient and can actually fly so they can get away from prey!

Hi! It's been a while since I checked this back yard blog! Living in remote Pilot Point Alaska, with the ONLY chicken coop in town!
I have been working at the school here in Pilot Point, and presently have 27 eggs in an incubator..in the principal's office! They are due to hatch on May day! We will be handling them this next week.
My husband let 'Mary' our buff Orpington hatch one egg...it's all dark with just an air sac visible, so looks like she knows her stuff!
I already have kids asking if they can keep a chick, there will be a wave of chicken keepers here soon!
My chickens love the new daylight hours! I have to wait for them to retire around 10 pm, before closing them in at night.

Sounds great and we got to get our next generation of chicken and duck Hatcher's knowledgeable sounds like too much fun down at Pilot Point happy hatchen. Whens their due date?

Mary's chickie should hatch on saturday, the incubator chicks are due on May day! We saw movement in the leghorn eggs...and veins in the orpingtons a day ago!

Hey Starr78....my sister Pam has chickens and geese in Wasilla. She has hatched some..but her husband is too attached to eat them anymore! The geese love, and follow him in the yard. Is the 78 the year you graduated? That's her graduation year! She does medical paperwork for the hospital there in Wasilla.

Hatching Eggs sre so much fun!
I'm in Wasilla area also 78 is year I was born. I've read that Geese are really smart, sweet and loving. I'm not surprised that he just loves all these birds and doesn't eat them anymore I'm sure I'll be like that to one day lol
