Calling All St Bernard owners- HELP!

Quote:
Ours is a female about the same age and size named Daisy. She comes when called quite well. She never pulls on a leash because we walked her with a prong collar about 3 times, and it taught her.
My only suggestion is food. Each time you call her, give her a treat when she comes. It is a very food motivated breed. We love the breed. It is much easier to train than the pyr, and much more people oriented. Ours learned, "sit, stay, lay, down" with food rewards quickly. Now the pyrenees are another story! They only obey when the mood strikes them and when they KNOW there is food involved.

Daisy- our St B-- behaves better than either the chihuahuas or the pys. The only problem I can mention about her is that she has a higher prey drive. She is not an LGD. She never met a chicken, goose, duck, rabbit, etc that she didn't try to eat. But she does come when called easily, and learns commands well. It should be easy for you to teach yours to come. It seems like a breed that wants to please its owners. Just use food as a treat whenever she comes.
