Yeah, when its like that only a couple of drops and sprinkles get in. But I've read that during bad weather it is better to have vents open?

Unless there are things that can get blown in through the vents (I'm not sure how bad the storms are in Texas) you should keep them off.

Nope their made out of chicken wire with another layer of close-knit, high quality wire. Thanks for the advice! I just don't want them to get soaked!

It doesn't really matter if they get a bit wet. What matters is that they have proper ventilation.
