Oh that’s sad.just got word my cousins 20 year old macaw is balding
he's been missing half his feathers for 15 years due to the stress of being in a hoarding situation. I genuinely don't know how he can just now be balding
A lot of times it’s from pulling the feathers and that tends to become a lifelong issue even if the situation gets betterThat's sadhope he can grow them back
yeah. after a while the feather follicle just dies from the feathers constantly being plucked so unfortunately he can't grow them back
Oh I get it... Poor thing
he wears little sweaters to keep him from plucking them but only like 3 little feathers grew back because the follicles had died
right? a lot of times birds who were meant for breeding will pluck their feathersWhy would someone purposely mistreat an animal it's just sad
