Well it may draw some. But where I live we have a grain elevator two blocks away on one side and a feed store a block away on the other side. So we have predators and birds No matter what. I haven't been feeding the wild birds much this year, I actually think that's why the Martins have done so well. Not as many other birds bothering them. They don't eat from feeders anyway, mostly insects.Birds really flock to you shaw, but does that bring predators to the birds also? I had to take my feeders down years ago, all the spillage attracted, raccoons, squirrels, skunks, opossums and even less desirable animals. Feel cheated - wasn't like that in my city days. Saw a Blue Jay once and was ecstatic
And when it comes to hawks these birds are awesome at running them off. Watched about 20 or so of them attacking a hawk that swooped down over the yard The other day. They kept on it till it was long gone. The other awesome thing is the ducks have learned to run for cover when they hear the alert to danger calls from them.
