Found some fresh hatched hornworms this morning on the raised bed tomatoes... they didn't even get one bite of tomato plant.

While waiting for my UV light to arrive, I decided to spray BT (bacillus thuringiensis) on the tomato plants. So this morning I went out w before dawn with my new UV light and I couldn’t see any hornworms. BT is supposed to work on worms and caterpillars. It certainly works on the cabbage worms. I have 8 tomato plants. I did not see new damage either.

In the past, I’ve bought the concentrate, and mixed w water in a small sprayer. But last year that got stinky and grew little clumps in my sprayer, so I just got the premixed. It’s a large bottle.

I believe this may be evidence that the BT works against hornworms:

I found a second dead hornworm hanging lifelessly, brown and deflated, on another tomato plant. It was smaller.

@SueT Did you target the underside of the leaves or just spray the whole plant from the sides and top?

I just sprayed from top and side. They eat entire stems and leaves. Even on cabbage family plants, I don’t try to get underneath. They are bound to come in contact with the bacteria, and get infected, it seems to work fine.

Well my bottle of BT and another item were delivered today to "front door porch"... I wonder who's front door porch was it delivered to? Guess I'll be picking worms for a while...
