Are you getting any sap?

JT
There wasn’t very much after 24 hours, maybe a quart. I read that if it’s too warm, or too cold, the sap won’t flow. The weather has been so erratic that I don’t know when it would have been best to start. They say nights below freezing and days in the 40’s. Well that has been interspersed with much warmer days and a few colder too. I’ll leave the tap in and see what happens even tho I suspect I started too late. This is a learning experience this year.

I learned about tapping walnut trees here on BYC. If you google black walnut syrup, you will see that it is actually sold commercially. There are lots of YouTube how to videos.

Cool! Thanks, always learning something here!

Nothing like a tornado warning on the phone waking you up from a peaceful slumber in the dead of the night. I did not wear my nader pjs to bed neither. I just pulled the blankie over my head and hoped for the best.
Looks like stuff got blown around pretty bad but nothing damaged.
