I can't speak to the extreme cold temps but I'd like to suggest you also place this on the forum for coop maintenance as it may get more exposure there rendering a better response.I’m in Kansas City. We have a blizzard now, tonight’s low is 5, tomorrow high 16 and tomorrow night -5. My flock is less than one year old. It is very hard not to worry about them being a new chicken owner. I have them locked in the coop it’s been over 24 hours. I just hope they don’t start pecking at each other. Input greatly appreciated that -5 has me very concerned.
Mine have endured -20. And I don't lock them in--Don't worry, they have down jackets on. If the wild birds can make it, I think your chickens can too.I’m in Kansas City. We hit zero two nights in a row. My flock did just fine. I’m looking forward to a balmy high of 32 tomorrow! Hoping for some melt off.Well it only took getting down to a low of 5º yesterday for today's high of 26º to seem downright warm! Even the chickens think it's warm....
