Next nest of scovies is hatching. Fortunately she was in a plastic nest box so I put a towel over it and picked the whole thing up and put it in the broody hut. I only saved 3 of the first batch and pretty sure they got all my guineas babies. Rotten buggers. I know they can't know the difference between varmits and poultry babies.....still!

yeah, yeah, yeah. I know, my bad for not providing preditor proof pens for them - but the scovies free range.

I set new eggs last night! 24 Cinnamon Queens.
Around here people think I am the crazy chicken lady. I assume that is better than crazy cat lady?

WE had some wind. I never heard a thing. Got up this morning and all my hens were loose in the yard. i thought it would be a long process.
Hubby got the pen back up. i went out to help and all my girls just came right over to me. Looking for treats, I would imagine.
Sure made things simple.
I got some scratch and walked into the pen offering a handful. They all just walked back in!!

That must have been a big wind! Glad they were all good Kids!

Somehow... I missed that it was supposed to rain tonight... But that's alright with me!!

Defiantly hot enough I guess I need to work on getting my auto waters hooked back up soon. I just moved some adults around to day for some test breeding and moved juveniles around on mothers day. Finally feel like Im getting some were and then my darn wheaten marans hen goes broody again. She was just broody less then 2 months ago and she is the youngest hen I have. Others are very old and only lay if im lucky once a week. Hard to get baby's form them to keep this way.

Got to love Missouri weather freezing one week and summer the next.

I can not believe people are stealing chickens. I know they will not be stealing mine or I will be getting a new dog. Between the geese and the dog that runs at night one of them will alert us.

Every have a dog that picks and choices which birds she likes and doesn't. Ducks forget she will eat them most my marans she tolerates, the geese she licks through the fence and the silkies she loves I think she thinks they are dogs.
