Well it has been a bad 4th for us. The neighbors that damaged the barn to get one cage of our quail made it possible for a raccoon to get in and take the last 8 quail we had. Thankfully we had eggs in the bator that are hatching right now. So far we have 5 healthy on that is iffy and two that are trying to hatch. We have 16 eggs that we have been collecting since Sunday and plan on setting those on Saturday so hopefully we can start over with what we have. We are having a difficult time trying to find anyone around here that are selling them.

Wow, that stinks!!! I hate coons! Lost a few to them over the last few years.

Where are you in MO? Maybe someone near you does have quail and just isn't on BYC.

We did put a wanted ad on craigslist and we plan on going to the Marshfield swap meet so maybe there be some there.

Have you tried facebook or ebay?

Anyone out there know of a quail breeder by Springfield or Lebanon??

Didn't really think about Facebook have to try that tomorrow and eBay is something we are looking at but last time we ordered eggs it took our post office six days to get them here.

Glad I mentioned FB then! Hope you find some! What kind of quail are they? I would like to get some someday but need to focus in what I have before I add too much more!!

Coturnix pharaoh Quail. It is really nice to have them while you are trying to grow out your chickens because they mature in six weeks and start laying, they don't eat much, and they take little space so it is not like you have to worry about doing a run and coop for them.

Well we had 12 Quail hatch over the last couple of days and we will be setting the 16 eggs we were able to collect from the Quail that were stole and killed so hopefully we be able to start our flock over that way.

On another note our female turkey has some how managed to break her leg. Is there anything we can do to fix it or is it just a lost cause? She is still able to get around to get water and food but that is about all she can manage to do.

Can you splint it? Using Horse Wrap and dowels? Don't know if that will do anygood or not but something to try at least - call a vet...
