Weekend project complete!

Instead of making a hinged top to the nest box I made the entire back into a door for easy cleaning.

Gorgeous coop - and being able to clean easy a good idea, but think you're gonna wish you could get into the back of the nest boxes without opening the whole door.
Some times the girls are good and parked squeezing out an egg just when you need to grope.

That should help keep the weather out. I just couldn't wrap my mind around a hinge top nest box and how it would open yet still keep the rain/snow/drafts out (open or closed).

I thought the same thing about how a hen could go for a ride when you go to check for eggs. LOL

Maybe if I put them in the nest boxes and open and close the door like a carnival ride they'll give me more eggs!!

Seriously though, I can see in the nest boxes from the front and see if they're occupied. There will only be 2 hens in this coop.

I'm thinking about get thing some Dorkings in the spring. Do you guys know of any breeders in MO or a close state?

You might try posting your interest in the breed threads too. Dorkings are pretty scarce.
Are you looking for a meatier/table breed?
I went with Sulmtalers and Konza Prarie Rangers (another Chookschick project in progress). Dorking was one of the foundation breeds for the Sulmtalers.
Another table breed I've seen mentioned around recently is the Breese.
