Who needs walk in closets? Gimme walk in bators!!!!!!!!

Well I'm not up to needing a walk in bator. My first season and I am using Little Giants. I do have 38 eggs set which is the largest amount I have
had so far. Very excited for the hatching to start. I managed to find an Ameraucana breeder with BBS eggs available on the Ameraucana Club
site. 14 of my eggs came from her and the wait is killing me!

Id try the corid too cant hurt The corid will just negate the medicated feed but wont hurt anything.

The Corid won't negate the medicated. They're both thiamine blockers and likely both amprolium so rather than negate, it will be double dosing in effect.
Most recommend a heavy dosing of Corid to fight coccidia and some do so on top of the medicated.
However, I've read directions on a bag of medicated that said not to use it if also dosing with amprolium.

Mine is almost big enough to walk into. I think it was overkill. I started with a shelving unit my son was throwing away and a square multi tiered adjustable table. My thought was to make it big enough to incubate 4 levels of everything up to and including ostrich eggs and even for that, I think it's too big.
The overall dimensions are 40" high, 31" wide and 24" deep. I incubator part is 28" high, 24" wide and 24" deep. The rest is the hatcher portion, heat, humidity and air circulation area.
I think it has 80 eggs in it now that I set 3 days ago. In a couple more days I'll probably add about 30 more and the same every 5 days so I can have time to move each set to the hatcher.
I didn't get it rebuilt in time to make the Easter hatchalong but I'm making up for lost time.

Missouri weather is so crazy! We were out in short sleeves and no jackets on Monday and today it was snowing when we got up. Bring on spring!

glad I am far enough south west we havnt got below 40 at night for well over a week. plants are loving it, especially the strawberries

Ohhhh good luck!!!!!!!! I have AMs but mostly silkied feather projects in various colors. Mottled. A few gold based blacks and lav in straight feathered pens. I just set 2 full drawers in a sportsman (96X2)! Have had serious hatching probs this winter - first a digital thermometer that was so accurate I totally relied on it - that then wasn't and too me a while to catch it (danggit!) and now I'm thinking the air in the house is just so freaking dry......sigh, I hope I get things sorted out - but then I'm going to be swamped in chicks once I do!

Hey, I'm going to add pullets to my flock when they get to the age of 12 weeks can I feed them the same layer feed as the rest. They free range about two hours a day when I get home from work.

Did you set all Black Penedesenca Eggs?

I just counted them. There are 70 Black Penedesenca eggs and 5 Ameraucana. I had to do some major work on it today and moved all the eggs to a LG so I double stacked them and in the process of moving them back I dropped one of the Penes.
I have a 6 year old Ameraucana (only bird I have besides the blacks) and she's been a great bird raising about 7 broods for me and over the years she survived 3 separate dog attacks and one raccoon attack. The raccoon really chewed her up. I thought she needed some friends that look like her in her old days. She's laying pretty well so I'll probably set them every time I collect 5.

My redundant controller on the hatcher went out today so I thought I'd troubleshoot it before I needed the hatcher. I could only maintain about 95F in there.
I also found another wiring issue I should sort out tomorrow but for now the eggs are back in the main incubator and holding temperature well.

You'd be better off feeding all grower and free offering oyster shell for the laying hens. The calcium added to layer feed is not the best thing for your roos or growing chicks/juvies. That level of calcium is not needed unless actively laying. On the flip side, the higher level of protein in the grower will help your young birds reach full growth potential and better condition the rest of your flock for breeding. Higher protein encourages hens to lay. The hens that need the calcium will seek out the oyster shell.

Anyone interested in Muscovy Duck Eggs? I hatch mostly chocolates ducks and drakes in my flock but variety w lots of different colors. White heads. Selectively bred for broad breasted utility. I cull 90% each year of over a hundred grown out retaining only the best for next year's breeders. Excellent skeeter eaters, don't need a pond. Only domesticated ducks not mallard based. Veal like and less greasy, considered a delicacy, if dinner your thing. Still wet and muddy around here so eggs are not spotless. Bakers dozen $50 or 6 for $25. They would only be on it for 6 weeks. I don't have Roos and I have never gave them Oyster shell. I use old egg shells as Calcium boost. I feed organic that I buy in 50lb bag. Oh what to do ? what to do ? Thanks Eden
