calling any one from missouri

That's the thing also. My chicks were bought from a private breeder. They are healthy robust little chicks who have more than doubled their size in their first week out of the shell.

These three little babies just played on my own mothering or at my age grandmothering instincts. I had to remind myself that they were of questionable heritage and health as their origins are unknown. I would have to isolate them, worry about them, and hope they weren't carrying something contagious in the interim. With my dozen chicks well on their way to being healthy adults and a grown roo waiting for them that I know the heritage and health background of, all I had to do was remind my self and sadly walk away.

Can't resist saying Ahhhhhhh, chicks cute, me want,

when you see them,though.

Might be a silly request but does anyone close to Lee's Summit / Kansas City have a 6-8 week old pullet that will lay colored eggs? I can only have 6 and have 4 7 week olds now so I'd like them to be as close to the same size as possible. (I have 2 silver laced Wyandottes, a barred rock and a Welsummer so far) I knew I should of gotten another one when I got those but its are first attempt with chicks!

I don't know of anyone. I just have hens. Waiting on four from Cackle Hatchery, Should be here April 2nd.You mite try Heartland Hatchery they are not very far and they are doing chick days in the area. Chicken Math is strong !! Be sure to Quarantine the new ones for 30 days before introducing them to the Flock. Gotta keep out diseases in check. Best of luck !!

@EdenCamp - Question since you seem to know a lot about incubating/hatching. If you gather eggs over a week then put them all in the incubator the same day, is day 1 the day you put them in the incubator or the day they were laid?

pullets and hens are easier to add to a flock than a rooster, pecking order takes less time and no blood

so true, the blood from roosters can be awful. We had placed the new rooster in a safety tractor inside the chicken run for 2 weeks before we let him out. They fought like no tomorrow ugh! There went the beautiful combs =(. They have the pecking order now and have quit fighting thank goodness.

I have four silver penciled wyandotte hens that are two years old next month. I have too many eggs this spring. you can buy one or all if you can't find the right age pullet.
