@Fanci Feathers Marans
If I understand correctly, they aren't even a recognized breed in the USA? But anyway it would just be for fun and to create a free range flock. They're supposed to be one of those breeds that excel at free ranging.
So Cackle's claims of importing breeding roosters and wanting to be 'instrumental in improving this breed and correcting breeding issues' etc, etc is to be taken with a grain of salt?
Oh, I imagine they'll be awesome free rangers. It's just that they're not show quality. I only read a little dab about then when I first got mine, and I know that their tail color is off. But they aren't too bad. Not polish-crested or anything.

I'm getting the silver. Cackle is letting us pick them up Monday since there's an ice storm predicted for Tuesday, their usual pick up day. Monday is the shipping day so I guess they are hatching today / tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to your review about your visit to cackle. . I may order some ducklings from them if I can't find Howard a girlfriend.
Do you happen know anyone who might have any female Rouen ducks to sell

Have you ever been to Joplin's poultry swap? I guess it was today. First Sat. of the month. You may have already answered this in the past, I often don't remember who is who here.

I've been to Estes Hatchery...it also has quite an aroma. :sick I heard on this thread that they are moving to a new facility in Mt. Vernon. The old building in Springfield doesn't have a store front, just a counter in the office. No bins of sale priced surplus chicks/ducklings to tempt you.
