calling any one from missouri

We had quite a downpour last night with lots of lightening. It was mostly dark when I left so didn't get to check much for any wind damage. There was some around and the sirens went off for awhile twice.

Well glad to hear you are okay....they were showing damage on the news around Raytown...

Tomorrow is Joplin Poultry Swap. I'm taking one of my Spitzhaubens cockerels to sell. The swap should be well attended.

Sue, hope you sell Mr Roo. It's a beautiful day for it. It's been quiet here with no roo crowing all day. The hens seem to be calming down and hope their feathers grow back where roo damaged them. 2 of them show signs of wear. I may let one of my pups meet the girls this weekend, under strict supervision. She actually seems afraid of them if I am carrying one of them she runs and hides.

We're back from the swap, sold our roo within half hour to a woman who has hens, I guess she meant Spitzhaubens, not sure. She said, we're not going to eat him....which was nice to know but I wasn't going to ask. There must have been a thousand chickens/other poultry there, hundreds of roosters crowing, dozens and dozens of buyers at 7 am. I asked $5, just hoping I wouldn't have to bring him home....

We made a trip to Springfield for errands. It was my 67th birthday so we went out to eat at the Lebanese restaurant on historic C Street. It's an interesting area to walk around in, all kinds of shops to explore.
On the way back we stopped in Mt. Vernon to see Estes Hatchery's new location. They are up and running in a big metal building north of town. They said they aren't completely set up but have all new incubators and and are hatching. The store area had lots of empty shelves still. They said they'd be having displays w chicks, and a lot more products available. There's a big old boat out front. The owner said he's going to get a big metal rooster and put in on the deck of the boat, and this will be visible from I 44. I asked what happened to the piano on the porch of their old location. He said, it's still there, we haven't moved everything yet.
We didn't buy any chicks.
@MotherOfPeepPeeps welcome to MO thread!

Happy late birthday sue! Glad you had a fun day!

About an hour ago, 2 fighter jets flew LOW over our farm! I raced outside when I heard the screaming roar, and saw them. They may be from Whiteman AFB.
They went over my house too! Freaked the ducks out.

Sue HAPPY HAPPY birthday.. glad you sold your roo. So funny I tried to introduce my Lab/Rotzi mix to the girls, she would not go near them ran and hid. She finally came out to stare at them right next to me but even with coaxing would go near them. My Boston terrier mix I'm certain won't react the same way.

Well I’m new here and discovered the Missouri thread. I didn’t go through all 890+ pages, so unsure if I am by anyone else. I am about an hour or so north of St. Louis and about 20 min south of Clarksville in Elsberry. I am new to chickens, and only have 6 right now, but I can tell you, this is going to change soon. I’m obsessed!
