I just returned from a trip to visit family in Virginia and then western New York state. Amazing to sit in the grass without fear of chiggers! In Virginia we hiked thru grass up to our knees in places. I would never ever do that here in chigger season......Chilly weather in NY. I grew up in the area, temps in 80's was considered a heat wave. I took the Greyhound bus! What a adventure! Very laid back compared to flying.
Storms approaching this morning; the intense red sunrise was the precursor---"red sky in the morning, sailor take warning..."

Hmm, the fawn is still here this morning. Walked from the south side of the deck around to the exact same spot sniffed it once and laid down. I'm a bit worried now...

Well the fawn is here for the 3rd day in a row. The doe picks it up around 5pm and drops it off each morning around 7am. I turn off the hot wire during the day so it can't get shocked. It's got enough challenges without getting shocked lol. I'm standing inside the chicken yard next to the compost bin when I took this photo.

Yep I a deer nanny lol. We can be standing on the deck when she comes to pick up junior and she just looks up at us for a minute and goes on her way with the little one in tow. It's so cool to watch.

having the best experience with a small town logger, i talked to some guys earlier in the year that gave me some quotes then i fund this guy who quoted me double what the other guys did and has already paid me more then double what he originally quoted! I appreciate this guy so much that i cant stop bragging about his work. he made my roads look nice again, pushed over a bunch of dead trees for me and he cleaned everything up really nice. if anyone in farrrr sw mo needs a logger i will hook you up with the details, its a really nice guy and his son.

After the Cat 5 tornado passed next to my house some years ago I had a lot of large oak trees that got pushed over due to the rains we had and a tornado passing 900' away. Anyway we were due to leave for Texas the next morning for my daughters wedding so I had to borrow a rough terrain fork lift from a buddy and get a crew of men with chain saws to cut up the trees so I could get down my driveway. When I saw a logger next door cleaning up I asked him to clean mine up when he had a chance. After he was done he gave me two checks one for the trees and one for the cutting some of the trees up. I never expected that check.

That's awesome, some loggers seem to be really great people. just got to stay away from those lazy loggers that pic-n-choose only the best trees and leave the hard work

My DH does his own logging, he's a wood turner and uses the trees from our land. He climbs and limbs the trees first, cuts them up into blanks and makes bowls or firewood from them....
