calling any one from missouri

...
Many states it costs up to $15 per bird to be tested which is why so many people in other states don't do it. Yes from what I understand it is free in missouri but there is a long wait list.

i just choose to keep it fun right know and not limit my choices of breeds or swaps and things I injoy. All the red tape and gov junk makes it not so much fun. Just my opinion also. Plus if you would decide to show you can get that bird tested at the show inorder to enter.
Last time I checked the wait list was about 3 weeks. I hope to get it done soon because I don't plan on buying any more birds and several people are wanting me to ship eggs.

The breed I raise isn't recognized by the APA so I won't be showing any time soon.

I'm amazed by this weather. Luckily we haven't had a hard freeze since fruit started budding.

I do understand, I Have not gotten to the point of not buying any more birds, chicks or eggs so for know. Im not doing it yet but yes it would be nice to ship chicks some time in the future. I have read once you do it that you can no longer have/sell chicks or eggs at your farm & must meet people some were else, do you know if that is true? I think many read the rules diffrently because 1 person I spoke to that is NPIP tried to tell me I could hatch eggs from people that were not NPIP but I don't believe that is true, from what I have read.

What breeds do you rasie that are no recognized. I know many of my colors are not but the breed themselves are know.

I really need to proof before I post

Incubator is back in session! 21 days and we'll see how my shipped eggs do!

I did bid on someof those silkied amerucana's... Wow are they neat! We love our silkies and to have a LF that is silkied would be so fun! But now I need another incubator!!

LF B/B/S, Chocolate or mauve fuzzy butts that lay blue eggs and make EEs!
Our own KathyinMO played a big beginning part in preserving the origional silkied Ameracuana mutation up until about 18mo ago. She had AMAZING sucess with very difficult to hatch and shared them when she moved on. She hasn't been on much lately to ask about it.

Small world isn't it?

Yes It is a small world. After reading her thread I thought 'Oh, Lord. What have I done!" I guess the hatching issue is still there but aybe not as bad?

The origionals and F1's were very difficult hatching, not quite as bad without shipping factor added in. Once there was an outcross that pretty much became a non-issue it looked like. These are several generations later - and a hybred cross necessary to bring in the chocolate gene. People have a hard time grasping there was NEVER a silkie cross - this was a spontaneous mutation so called silkied for the feather type - not a hybred to get it. Another cross to introduce the chocolate gene yes, but that was several generations ago and strictly quality Ameracuna after that.

Lot more reading to do on the ongoing surviving thread of people working with this "what's wrong with my feathers" - fascinating stuff. You and I should take this over there for subject matter.

LF fuzzybutts - who'da thunk?
