Hopefully this next batch goes better for you.

Well Fidel/Fifi is in the brooder, long story on the name, will fill you all in later. It is a fighter chick for sure. Had some sav a chick here and got several doses down 3 different times. It can stand on its own, feet look good. But now I have a lone chick for a week! What am I going to do with a lone chick??? LOL
Pat............have you ever assisted with an egg with saddle aircells? I think I might have a bunch more to do!
I have got to get some sleep. Grandson bright and early, then at 5 got to go pick up 2 more for the weekend!

I got to see dad's favorite of the chicks, she's the one on the far right with the red face which is unique compared to the others. Is she a different type of black sex-link?

Came across this and thought you might find it a good read - very detailed.

Thanks Pat, read every word. Nothing in there about the saddle air cells, just to "watch" them. I guess you have to make your own decision on when to assist! That I do not like I think once I see a pip, I will give it 6 hrs, then decide to assist. This is going to be a crazy hatch. Due in 6 days!!!!

Hi everybody. Was told about this thread and thought I'd say 'hey'. I'm in my first year of chicken keeping and I'm already hooked ;). I was reading about everybody incubator woes :(. I have a mail order batch that are due any day. I started out with 37. Of those, I think only 7 will actually hatch. To top it off they are itty bitty seramas! I'm beyond anxious. We're to lock down and I keep staring thru the little windows trying to see the eggs move. If I could drag the incubator to work with me I would. I spend the whole time worrying until I get home and see nothing's happening yet. If only those shells were see thru!
