Meh, can only work on it a few hours in the morning before it just gets too hot.
Take lots of breaks. Cold wet cloth. Iced drink. Not a big sweat-r but think the humidity just condenses! Yuck! If it were cooler and could work stright through think I could pretty well have it done in a day. Half a day if not for the nest box stuff.

HoopCoop is comng together...slowly. Didn't help I sawed through the cord of my saw...oops! Still sick and this heat isn't helping so slow and stooopid.
Making some modifications to the design posted in Coops and Tractor but think it'll work slick as a grow out pen initially and as a breeding pen later on. Don;t think will finish tommorow but Thursday looks good. Yay~! Some happy youngins be glad to be able to strech thier wings~! Adding a double nest box with dual door outside access, ramp/perchs, hooks for hanging food and water under the box with a door access. Going to set the whole back end to flip down and open for access. Tarp cover for shade and weather shelter. Whole thing is still light enough to easily move myself. 4'W X 10'L. What ya'll think?

How cool!!! I know those babies are going to be so happy!!!! Praying this heat lets up a little so you can get it finished!

I like it & want to see more. LOL I've seen (and printed) plans for one of these, but haven't looked at it for about a year. I'll have to hunt up my PDF and look at it again. I know I can "see" the project in my mind but reality always seems to be different when it comes. I can understand something and then when I actually get to it myself, I end up with questions.

I need to build a couple of pens (bantam), but I'm not looking to be able to move them since I'll have a chicken house that I'll attach it to. Will these make good permanent pens? Is 4 ft as wide as it's able to go? I guess it depends upon what you want to do with fencing for length but the PVC piping probalby limits how wide you can go. How tall did you make it? Thanks for any details you can give.

Its only about 4' high so have to stoop to get around in it.
Don't see why you couldn't connect lengths of PVC to make it wider and higher.

There is a version that uses livestock panels for more security.
This is pretty lightweight so it can be moved easily. I like the idea of fresh ground under the birds rather than shovaling and living in poop.

If wanting stationary think I'd just construct a wood frame and use a layer of heavier gauge wire - at least for the exterior perimeter for better preditor control. Trade off security for mobility but I have LGDs and they do a great job. Interior runs hooped would break up the space tho.

But yeah, compiling materials list along with how-to and pictures.

Yuck rain is really slowing the coop and brooder box building down. At least we got the tractor done for the 6 week old chicks done before it started to rain and they are very happy being outside now. We picked up some polish for someone and now they don't want them because they can't keep chicks alive. So they want us to raise them and until they are old enough to be without a heat lamp and can go to a pen and still wants to only pay under $2 each for them. So I am trying to explain to them that raising 50 chicks for a month really does take a lot of money and we just are not willing to go it for such little money.

Does anyone want any White crested black polish, gold laced or blue polish chicks? We will take $2 a chick.
