calling any one from missouri

This is the first chicken we hatched from our eggs, I know exciting to us...maybe not to others. I think it is the 3rd step in chicken addiction, hatching eggs! Cackles is a mutt, we think she is unique, half Buff Orpington and half Jersey Giant - so if you ever wondered what that would look like

lol love the name Cackles. I think she is rather pretty

I just ran across this thread and see that the last post was in 2008 and figured there might be more new people from Missouri.

We are south of Ozark, which is south of Springfield and north of Branson.

Hello, all!

Edited: Whoa! What was I looking at? LOL

LOL! You're in the neck of the woods that hubby and I have been considering retiring in, although we're quite a ways from that still.

Hatching your own is always exciting, IMHO. I've hatched out countless, and each one is just as exciting as the one before.

She's such a pretty girl...I love her name and her colouring. I'm guessing she has the disposition to match...?

Thank you, she is very sweet, she will be a good addition to our flock.

Anyone else starting to see feathers all over? Looks like the molting season is on it's way at least here anyway.

While I have a lot of feathers every where (from a broody duck that's pulled feathers for her nest), there is no moulting here yet. But I'm sure it's just a matter of days...

My girls are over a year old and haven't moulted yet, I've been wondering when it will happen. Maybe I will get lucky and the older girls will start moulting about the time my 5 ameruacanas start laying ( they are 17 weeks old right now).

Chickens usually don't molt their first year. Mine typically start around September. :)
