Hi CluckyChick, I just moved from Kansas City Kansas to Amsterdam Mo...country life ...nothing like it!! My husband works in KC Kansas so he drives back and forth...its killing us...ouch.

..If you might know of any place that a poor old, 61 and 65, could rent or rent to own...Please let me know...

.30 Miles sounds wonderful..he now drives an hour and half each way...and I could never give up my new babies I just got a couple weeks ago.....two wyandottes, two rhode Island reds a golden comet and a buff orpington....it's all for them...

Hi Debuschicks....I have lived all over KC....grew up in the Roanoke/Westport area...then lived in Armourdale, got married and lived in Maple Hill.. went to college in Lawrence....just lots of places. I am now in Amsterdam, Mo and it's just a tidbit too far. Beautiful ...I love the country!! My hubby drives an hour and a half to work (still KCKs at Deffenbaugh diesel mechanic) and we are getting up there in age, 61 and 65, so we are desperately looking for some place closer yet still country. I Don't want to give up my new babies I just got a couple weeks ago...I love them soooo much. Two wyandottes, two rhode island reds a golden comet and a buff orpington. If you happen to know where a couple old folks could rent or rent to buy it would be a gift to us. Driving so far is killing us. Lovin BYC also...soo much information!

Don't know how you feel about traveling but they are having a chicken swap or some such thing in Rockaway Beach this weekend. I plan on going but just found out about it a couple of hours ago. I am up late using free minutes on our internet. LOL

Athena! Wesport/Plaza area here! Well, I grew up there, went to Swinney. Sister graduated Wesport HS in 68.

What's everyone's opinion on Amendment 1, the Right to Farm amendment?

any bill regulating agriculture is going to be controversial. I have mixed feelings. The bill looks like it will just guarantee business will keep going on as usual , making it impossible for outside interests to influence our laws, funny enough the biggest financial backer of the bill is from out of state. I grew up on a commercial chicken farm and I know chickens living conditions(for broilers at least ) are not as bad as they are made out to be, I agree however that with laying hens, well they need something different. Monsanto backs the bill and that makes me very nervous. I'm on the NO side right now.

also my local representative is the co-sponsor (Bill Lant) and he was very rude to me during a conversation that ended with him calling me "dumb" . I know that shouldn't influence my opinion but if thats the attitude he has towards somebody who voted for him you have to question his motives for backing this bill, he obviously doesn't care about his constituents.
