calling any one from missouri

At 25 weeks I finally had all 16 hens lay yesterday. Kind of exciting since last month they actually paid for all of their expenses and feed themselves.

@Couchmo
Roos are buff silkie, Japanese bantam buff silkie mix and ee buff silkie mix

Hens are ee, Japanese bantam, silver laced polish, what I think is a mini splash old English game bantam hen, and ee white silkie mixes. ..those are my current layers.

Waiting to lay are ee buff silkie mixes, Japanese bantam buff silkie mixes and my mini barred rock bantam

So essentially you'd end up with barnyard mixes because no one is separated when they range so I can't say which roo is doing business with which hen.

LOL! I was just talking today with S-I-L about his neat "Crazy, mixed-up, barnyard flock". We couldn't even remember what-all breeds are mixed up out there in the backyard. Sure makes it fun, looking them over & trying to figure which might have descended from which based on their size, feather color & pattern, comb style, leg color, etc. Oh, of course we had to differentiate the five-toed chickens as well!

It sounds like you two should do some swapping! You could each pick up a little something else to add to your diverse flocks ;-). Isn't it a beautiful sight when you see all those colors, shapes & sizes running around? Sure puts a big smile on my face and glee in my heart.

Bleach is a cleaner not a disinfectant. Hose and scrub off any crud. Peroxide 50/50 drench and let sun dry as sun also kills more nasties. Most nasties will not live long but the longer you can let sit the better. The exception is Mareks - it lives for like 10 years.

I have 2 hens and 2 half grown pullets in Central MO $75 for the 4. Maran and Maran crosses - brown egg layers.

Blue english orp pullet out of a red roo so there is some leakage $30

2 FBCM roos $15 @

Anyone going to the Midwest Heritage Poultry Conference this Saturday? It's in Silex, MO city Park on highway E. 30 minutes north of I-70 at Wentzville and 5 minutes west of highway 61.
It is co-sponsored by Acres USA, St. Louis Slow Foods, River Hills Farmers Market and the regional SARE program.
It starts at 7 AM and goes through the day. There will be a farmer's market and trade show featuring rare and heirloom poultry as well as supplies and an egg show.
There will be various nationally known speakers. I'll be presenting a seminar at 10 AM on starting right with heritage poultry.
