calling any one from missouri

Keytesville is south of Marceline on 5 highway about 18 miles i think. It is right on the west side of the highway, you can see it from the road easily.

According to mapquest it is 2 hours 5 minutes from green city to keytesville. but only 50 miles so I am thinking 1 hour and you are here!

I have a ton of chicks hatching out this weekend. What kind are you looking at. We are hatching them for the FFA kids and whatever does not sell locally, will be sold at a sale on the 14th. Mostly they are bantam mutts but there should be a few pure ones if the kids don't scoop them up first. The bantam mutts will be just as good at producing eggs as non mutts. As a matter of fact I have about 1-2 week old ones right now if you are interested I have 18 and then I think 3 or 4 left of the 6 week old ones.

Thanks for your responses on my thread. I have more questions but thought it would be smarter to add them to this thread, since probably more people receive notifications when there's an update.

So can you guys tell me about the native creepy crawly bugs? Are there cockroaches and poisonous snakes in Missouri? What other natural things are there to watch out for? I remember in southern Illinois my dog picked up ticks, which aren't a problem here in Oregon. Is lyme disease a problem because of ticks in Missouri?

What about politics? Seems like at the last election I understood that Missouri can go either way, which is what I like in a state. I don't like to be too surrounded by people I agree with or by people I disagree with. I like a good mix, because without surrounding yourself with people of differing opinions, you never learn anything new.

Yes, your dogs will get ticks! Lots of them!
But if you spray before hiking, and it wears a tick collar it won't be as bad, so long as you check yourself after hiking. If you hate ticks, get some guineas to help your chickens eat them so they'll stay out of your yard. There might be 2 poisonous snakes you have to watch for, but I've never seen them. (I've heard Guineas go after snakes too) Missouri is such a beautiful GREEN state compared to the other states. ON politics, we are so divided, to each his own. If you are in Rolla you will be very close to the Meramec and Current River which is beautiful for float trips and horsebackriding. Clean air is such a wonderful thing, as is not having to deal with traffic jams and rush hour!

I live in central missouri, about an hour north of Rolla, and love it. Columbia MO is my home town, but it has gotten too big, and now they have more crime there like the big cities have. So I"ll stick with smaller, even if I can't have my thai food and japanese food without driving 30 minutes!

Hello ,
I live near Hartville , MO a few hours from Rolla but have been there once and its really a nice area.
Hmmm , i dont know of any vaccines for Lyme Disease .

My DH thought he may have it so went got a simple bloode test and it turned out Negative but doc still out him on some antibiotics just incase .

As long as you keep yourself with tick repellant and your animals all should be good.

Missiouri is a wonderful place , i found went i came here that the people here are so much friendlier than anywhere i have ever lived before , we just love it here .

Fay
