calling any one from missouri

north east missouri here. sorry i didn't read through all 28 pages to see exactly what was being discussed. it sure is soggy out there!
i have 18 mixed chickens and 5 guineas and 5 pheasants. i've noticed that people like to talk bad about mixed chickens but i love em. no two look the same and their eggs taste just as good.

Horrific storms last night, we lost our power...and I have one day old chick and 43 eggs in a bator!!! dh started the generator and then the power was restored about 1/2 hour later but it did rain off and on all night and early this morning. FROST predicted for tonight, I will never get my garden in!!! Welcome newbies!!

it rained like crazy up here in NE MO. i transplanted my asparagus patch yesterday and the soil was working like a dream. should have tilled and planted the sweet corn but..... i didn't. it settled the soil around my asparagus plants real well though

YEAHHHH hippie! Glad you got something in. It is just muck and mire up here in North Central MO. Rain rain rain....but on the up side, anyone want to buy some lakefront property! I have it only available for a few days....... till the creek goes back in the banks!

yodergirl, i just saw on another thread that you're new to this website as well. today is the first day that i have really spent any time on here. i am amazed at how many people are on this forum and how quickly topics move down the list if no one responds. so you're thinking about getting some birds, eh?

Yes, we are working on part of the shed turning into a coop, 5 x 13, I don't know a thing about chickens or what kind I want to get. I want them for laying not really to eat. I can't stand the thought of butching my own birds. My MNL does and then we end up eatting them and I just grin and bear it and eat the things. I do like eating chicken but not from one I have seen running around

Does any body have suggestions on what kind of birds to get? I would like some docile birds that lay really good.

What kind are those that are black striped...
