calling any one from missouri

Sue, sounds like an enjoyable day. funny about the kitten and chickens reactions can be so funny.. My cat is terrified at going outside.; fine with me I really want her to be an inside cat. For me I will add more litter an do some cleaning on their coop tomorrow especially since the wind is supposed to die down some tomorrow.

My neighbor has a cat that rides herd with a group of hers that like to free range at my place. It's so funny to watch the cat when one of the pullets strays too far from the group it jumps up and runs over to the wandering one and herds it back closer to the group. Usually the cat is next to the rooster.

It was windy for sure here in SEMO yesterday.

I got 9 eggs 3 days in a row then 8 for two days and yesterday back to 9 again. I have 9 RIR that are 23.3 weeks old.

Funny! Our older cat loves each batch of baby chicks. She lays on top of the brooder cage like a mama with kittens. We call them her chittens.
What do you do w all the xtra eggs?

:gigLove it.

Another lovely day! Okay, here's the update on my experiment of rearranging the nesting boxes. (Yesterday all eggs were in milk crate A.) I switched the location of milk crate A with the new milk crate B. I opened up the front of the double wide 'Royal Suite' nest,

and then, on a whim, added another wooden nest on top that I'm calling 'the Crow's nest'. (this was once in another locale and never used) There was a lot of discussion by the ladies about all this. Some complaining, but mostly positive. AND GUESS WHAT! I got 4 eggs, ONE IN EACH NEST!!!!!
I guess I'm getting the hang of chicken feng shui after all, lol.

Sue so happy you are having luck with that. My nest box isn't built yet and they are laying behind the wooden crates I'm using as a temporary roost. Their coop will change a lot once it warms up and I get it finished. I'm concerned about the changes.

Just get some milk crates, they're all the rage, lol

Hang some curtains on the Royal Suite so they can have some privacy.

That's a good looking girl in the Royal Suite looks just like one of my RIR with the big floppy comb.
