Right. Once i let all mine out, I realized I couldn't get them back in like I can w the 2 hens. (of course they did go in at sunset) I haven't let them out today. They may be wondering if it was just a dream......

Haven't made it out there yet except to check on them this am and retrieve one egg. I have 3 blown discs in my neck and doing normal inside weekend chores managed to set the major pain off. Not moving too well today. Working on finding a way to get back to normalcy with too many doc appts.

We had some nice weather over here on the south east corner. Split firewood all afternoon. The wood shed is looking much better, all that really cold weather and I was burning wood like crazy. I heat 3,000 square feet of garage/shop and a separate shop that I work out of so lots of space to keep above freezing.

Next week is rain everyday until next Sunday, yuck...

I'm sorry to hear of neck pain. Here's something that has helped me avoid the chiropractor..these 3 positions, for 3 min each. 1. Lay on floor, feet on chair
2. Hang heels off edge of stair, this feels really good, sends a shiver up the spine
3. Sit on floor, back against wall, gently straighten legs.
That's all, it gently helps the neck realign itself.

Thanks Sue will try those. Have an old cervical fusion and 3 blown out discs around it, one is pretty bad. Pain management doing a steroid cervical injection on the 28th, seeing a neurologist on Wed. Today has simply been a bad day, tomorrow will be better. ;) I did give 6 eggs to a neighbor and work on the coop a bit Roo was in the dog crate and crowed most of the time. The pullets stayed inside peeking out. 3 eggs today from 3 pullets. The dang wind was cold.

Sue, what a cute chick.

Yesterday morning was a icky mix of cold rain, a few snow flakes and some ice. By 10 the sun was out and it was in the 50's in the afternoon. This morning 30 but it is supposed to be very windy and 60's today and tomorrow before rain starts on Monday (much needed and then turning to freezing stuff on Tuesday. I am so ready for spring.

My roo needs to get outside and play. Wish Steven would come to get him and move him to his nice big run. Might see if I can somehow block the hole in a dog crate (dog bent and broke the wires) so he can't get out and at least let him peck around in the dirt and enjoy the sun. Of course take the bottom tray out. I need to do some clean up and mix up their litter and add more--would be nice to get him out of my way. The hens could roam around the yard some-- Roo isn't easy to catch.

Sorry you're having so much back pain -- no fun. This weather doesn't help at all either. Love those sketches Sue

My oldest chickens have got the going back in their pen/house thing down pat. We have a routine that I've used since they were chicks. I carry a broom and basically herd them. Had to have something long I could stick in the bushes. Once in a while somebody gets a wild hair and makes me chase them around the pen a few times. The young ones are just beginning to learn broom and they kinda freak out, but are getting it.

So far we've just had some light sprinkles today and plenty of wind. I opened the coop and pen for a bit this morning and the big chickens took a nice long stroll. The chicks took advantage of that to get a good meal.

60º and dropping....lots of rain ahead today.
yesterday 1" fell, but beforehand, I let all the chickens out to range, and the youngsters did come back in when I called them as the rain began. This morning I let them out again, and suddenly it began pouring and they all ran in on their own, chickens are smart birds!
Here they are in a non rainy moment working the garden for me....
