98 here, but then we had 30 mins of rain around 4pm that knocked it down 10 degrees and of course raised the humidity....

I went out about 1pm and sprayed down the part of the run where the chooks lay during the day... they protested a bit, then ran right over an laid down on the damp ground...

had I not done that I'm certain the rain would have missed us... kind of like washing your car.

When it was real hot here I put a large plastic coffee can of frozen water in the water bucket and put an oscillating fan in the shady spot. Of course the first time they saw it they all ran off screaming like scared little girls lol, the next day they all lined up in front of the fan with their wings out catching a breeze.

Third day in a row of 1" or more rain and the creek is still bone dry.

I was watching the lightning in the clouds to the south last night, I looked at the radar and realized you were gonna' keep it all for yourself though, and sure enough we didn't get any of it.

But the Perseids meteor shower is about to peak (Sunday night), but the next 3 nights should be good too, so please keep the clouds down there to the south of me for the next few days. ;)

I have been letting my chickens out to range every evening. This pullet, Greta, just LOVES chasing grasshoppers. While everyone else is scratching and digging, Greta is running across the yard in pursuit of her flying, hopping prey. Yesterday she ran pell mell right up the the fence where our neighbor's cows were grazing close by. They were startled, and she was shocked. She looked at them and they looked at her, and then she quickly turned around and hurried away.

Would anyone here be interested in a call duck drake? I have one that has a slight leg issue and needs a home. I have too many drakes to keep him. If anyone is interested or know anyone that might be interested let me know. :)

Yes you just show up, it's free. I wouldn't just give him away, ask something. I sold my unwanted cockerels for $5 and $7 after offering them here on BYC for free.
Post a pic of him ---what color is he?
