Welcome to the MO thread! Sorry to hear about Clyde. Do you live near SW MO? There's a poultry swap in Joplin Sat Sept 1 at Turkey Creek Feed. Does it have to be a mallard or would another breed do?
@shawluvsbirds did you find a home for your call drake?

I did actually.
But I do have a Cayuga drake to spare that I planned on taking to Joplin Saturday. Wonder if a Cayuga and a mallard would get along?

If you go to the swap, let me describe how we did it. There is a big field and everyone parks in rows, buyers and sellers alike. It's first come, first parking choice. And they usually set up behind their vehicles, on tailgates, etc. The first row has the main contingent of sellers, and late comers often have to sell from other rows. What we did is park further back and carry the cage to the first row so we'd be right there where most of the buyers were looking. I actually brought my Little Tykes plastic wagon to carry the cage. And a stool. I tucked in between 2 sellers. The first time I sold my bird in less than an hour, the second time it took almost 2.

We plan on going and taking a Cayuga drake to sell. I hate to give him up but come spring 3 drakes will be too many to deal with
I'm going to have to take my car since our old truck is still broke down lol. So no wagon hauling for me. . but that is a great idea!
So do you recommend getting there are soon as they open?

It's a good idea to get there early. I think we got there around 7:30 each time. We brought that wagon in the trunk of our car, btw. We wanted to park where it was easy to get out. It gets very busy there. Buyers and sellers cars all mixed together in the other rows which is why we carried the cage to the first row. You'll see what is best for you when you get there. You can always rearrange yourselves if needed. I'm sure you'll find a buyer. It's going to be an adventure!

My only wagon is a gorilla cart lol. I wish I could get it in the trunk!

here's what I look like..I'll braid my hair if I come, I'll wear my orange hat. I hope I wouldn't buy another chicken. I got this one there last year. Anyway, my DH has migraine so all bets are off on plans for mañana. But you never know.
