calling any one from missouri

I just looked up Poplar Bluff and it does look like it's pretty similar to where we live now. Do they do a lot of community events in Poplar Bluff?

Well they have events at Ray Clinton Park and stuff at the Colosseum (we call it BOB for Big Orange Building) we have a 25 mile bike/hiking trail (Wolf Creek Trail). We usually do some of the poker runs on the bike. What I like is it's not over developed like near big cities but it does have quite a lot in the town itself. In Corning Ar they have a fall festival that is cool. Scattered around SEMO they have many different community events throughout the year.

Our yard owl has been hanging out on the electric line the last several nights... I’m hoping she’s working over the copperhead and vole population...

We used to have 2 barn owls, but now that you mention it, I haven't heard them in a long time. Maybe that is why the moles/voles are so bad in our yard this year.

This little rose was looking peppy this morning!

Beautiful picture.

And the Japanese beetles have shown up on schedule :sick ... do the rest of you get a lot of these?

Yes, I unfortunately have started seeing the Japanese beetles this week as well. I usually try to pick off as many as I can and put them in a gallon milk jug and then dump it in the chicken coop so the chickens can have a snack and hopefully none of them escape!!

I think your referring to the Christmas parade. But there are others...big homecoming parade comes to mind. Plus a ton of festivals...Heritage Days, Plein Air Art Contest, Tour de Fete. Kings & Queens Ball, plus more. Art walk every 4th Friday, free concerts on Thursday nights. There is some event involving motorcycles! Not sure what it's called, but they are all over town.

So what do you all think---- I'm planning to move my indoor chicks outside to their little coop today, as they are getting bored and stinky in their 1' by 2' birdcage brooder. Low temps will be in the low 70's, highs in 90's. There will be no heat source but they have lots of feathers and from what I see, they don't really use the warming corner under the CHE bulb... Spitzhauben chick is about 3 weeks old, bantam may be several days older. With only 2 of them, tho, there isn't much warmth from huddling together.
Their coop is within the run with the hen and chicks and they will be able to interact thru wire mesh. I am really enjoying setting everything up for them, and looking forward to seeing the reactions and taking photos.
(I also posted this same question under the Spitzhauben thread,) I would like to hear about your experiences w moving your babies out....
